I INTERNATIONAL FLUTE FESTIVAL

Rio de Janeiro -1995

ABRAF promoted it's first international festival from 15 to 22 of September 1995.

It was held at the Music School of the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, and the guest flutists were: Patricia da Dalt, Argentina; Luciano Carrera, Equador; Angeleita Floyd, Cathy Collinge/Jose Lescano, Keith Underwood and Sherryl Cohen, USA; Alain Marion, France; Phillipa Davies, England; Sanae Nakayama, Japan; Cesar Vivanco, Peru; Felix Renggli, Swiss; Hans-Joachim Fuss, Germany; Odette E. Dias, Celso Woltzenlogel, César Michiles and Carlos Malta, Brazil.

The ensembles  Flautistas do Rio - Brazil and the Japan Flute Orchestra also participated.

Simultaneously with the festival ABRAF also sponsored the  FIRST INTERNACIONAL FLUTE FESTIVAL. The Jury members for the final round were: Alain Marion (President), Felix Renggli, Angeleita Floyd, Sanae Nakayama, Oswaldo Lacerda and Ernani Aguiar.

II INTERNATIONAL FLUTE FESTIVAL

Porto Alegre - 1996

Held in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, from  10 to 15 of September 1996. The guest flutists were: Alain Marion, France; Michael Titt, Norway; Michael Faust, Germany; Sanae Nakayama, Japan; Angeleita Floyd, Sherryl Cohen and Sato Moughalian, USA; Cesar Vivanco, Peru; Celso Woltzenlogel, Ayres Potthoff, Antonio Carlos Carrasqueira and Marcos Kiehl, Brazil. The recitas were accompanied by pianists Maria Teresa Madeira, Maria José Carrasqueira, Olinda Alessandrini, Ney Fialkow, Paulo Bergmamm and Orquestra de Câmara do Theatro São Pedro, directed by Ernani Aguiar.

The concerts and recitals were held at the Theatro São Pedro with free admittance, and the master classes were given gratuitously ate the Instituto de Artes da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul.

  III INTERNACIONAL FLUTE FESTIVAL

Rio de Janeiro - 1997

 

One more time, Rio De Janeiro was palco of this event that will become a tradition in the city. To start with, no one less than Ziraldo did the poster of the Festival. Celso Woltzenlogel, our president, together with Maria Jose Chevitarese, Dean of the Center of Letters and Arts of the UFRJ, and Jose Alves Da Silva, Director of the School of Music of the UFRJ, had concentrated efforts for this unforgettable Festival.

Our guests were: Alain Marion and Philippe Racine, France; Paula Robison and Robert Dick, United States; Matthias Ziegler, Switzerland; Michael Faust, Germany; Nobutaka Shimizu, Japan; Daniela Troiani and Antonio de Rose, Italy; Enzo Gieco and Juan Jose Mosalini, Argentina; Cesar Peredo, Peru; Altamiro Carrilho, Jose Ananias de Souza, Andrea Ernst Days, Beatriz Magalhães Castro, Aloysio Fagerlande, Edelton Gloeden and Flutists from Rio, Brazil. All the concerts and masterclasses had been carried through, gratuitously, in the School of Music of the UFRJ.

Parallel to the Festival, we had for the first time the presence of flute manufacturers: Sankyo, Powell and Pearl, as well as the manufacturers of Head joints Luiz Tudrey and Salvatore Faulisi.

 

IV INTERNACIONAL FLUTE FESTIVAL

Brasília - 2000

 

The IV Festival was held in Brasilia from 5 to 9 of September. The festival was divided in three types of activities: lectures (9 to 12); masterclasses (2 to 6PM) and concerts (8PM).

The highlights were: Jane Rutter (Australia) who also made a presentation of her show at the night-club , "Tutti-Flutti"; Daniela Troiani and Antonio de Rose (Italy); Ittzes Gergely (Hungary) who presented works by Karg-Elert, Doppler, Paganini and of his own; Felix Renggli (Switzerland) with works for flute alone by Telemann and Skrypcak, Moser, Vassena and Bonis; Pedro Couto Soares (Portugal) who presented Portuguese works from the XVIII and XX  centuries.

Amongst the Brazilian artists, Sergio Barrenechea, Edson Beltrami, Renato Axelrud, Odette Ernest Dias and Luis Sieciechowicz has also participated. 
 

The activities were developed at the  Claudio Santoro National Theater and the Brasilia Music School, that became the festival official sponsor through its director, Carlos Galvão.
 

 
V INTERNATIONAL FLUTE FESTIVAL

Fortaleza, Ceará - 2002

 

The V Festival was a great success and had the participation of famous guest flutists as: Robert Stallman (U.S.A.), Felix Renggli (Switzerland), Gérard Bourgogne (France), Anders-Ljungar Chapelon (Sweden), Polina Peskina (Russia), Claude Barile (Argentina), Heriberto Porto, Syntagma Group, Cabaçal Band, Mauricio Freire, Raul D'Avila, Duo Tota Portela/Teca Gondim, Duo Robatto, Maria Teresa Madeira (pianist, Brazil) and Chamber Orchestra Eleazar de Carvalho, (Brazil).

All recitals, concerts and masterclasses were offered gratuitously and presented in at the majestical Theatro Jose de Alencar. Masterclasses had been given by Anders Ljungar Chapelon, Claude Barile, Felix Renggli, Gerard Bourgogne, Robert Stallman, Raul d`Avila and Lucas Robatto.

 
VI INTERNACIONAL FLUTE FESTIVAL

Salvador, BA - 2004

 

During 6 days the Castro Alves Teatre was the stage for a series of masterclasses, lectures and forum discussion, recitals and expositions and a lot of music making!!

All this festivity was also to celebrate ABRAF's  10o aniverssary and the Castro Alves Teatre 11o aniversary after its re-inauguration.

Two years after the V Festival Internacional, which was held in Fortaleza in Setembro, 2002, the ABRAF association keeps its tradition of organizing  festivals sisnce its creation, 10 years ago.

The guest artists for this festival were: Anders-Ljungar Chapelon (Sweden), Jean-Louis Beaumadier (France), Felix Renggli (Switzerland), Matej Zupan (Slovenia), Michel Belavance (Canada), Niurka Gonzáles (Cuba), Sheryl Cohen (US), Tadeu Coelho (Brazil/US), and the brazilians Artur Elias Carneiro, Beth Ernst Dias and Francisca Aquino, Geísa Felipe, Rogerio Wolf and Toninho Guimarães.
