First National Competition for Young Flutists

Rio de Janeiro -1995

During ABRAF's FIRST INTERNACIONAL FLUTE FESTIVAL held in Rio de Janeiro between September 15 to 22 of 1995, ABRAF also sponsored the First National Competition for Young Flutists. The Jury members were: Alain Marion (President), Felix Renggli, Angeleita Floyd, Sanae Nakayama, Oswaldo Lacerda and Ernani Aguiar. Brazilian composers also contributed with original compositions for the competition.

Prizes:

The first prize winners received each one a silver Sankyo flute, estimated value of US$ 5,000.00, in two categories of age. The second prize winners received one headjoint by Salvatore Faulisi and one by Luiz Tudrey. There were also cash prizes and remunerated recitals for all winners.

1° Category

1° prize - Raquel Neves Magalhães, 15 years old, RJ
2° prize - Cássia Renata Fonseca, 16 years old, SP
3° prize - Geisa Cerqueira Felipe, 16 years old, RJ

2° Category

1° prize - Eloá Sobreiro, 24 years old, RJ
2° prize - Claudia Li Subieta, 22 years old, RJ
3° prize - Enzo Giacomini, 22 years old, RJ

Second National Competition for Young Flutists

Rio de Janeiro - 1997

During ABRAF's THIRD INTERNACIONAL FLUTE FESTIVAL held in Rio de Janeiro, ABRAF also sponsored the Second National Competition for Young Flutists.

The winners were:

1° Category (up to 21 years old)

1° prize - Cássia Renata F. de Lima, SP
2° prize - Geisa Cerqueira Felipe, RJ

2° Category (22 to 28 years old)

1° prize - Sammy Fucks, RJ
2° prize - Enzo Giacomini, SP
3° prize - Artur Elias Carneiro, RS and Danilo Mezzadri, PR

Prizes:

The first prize winners received each one a silver Sankyo flute, estimated value of US$ 5,000.00. The second prize winners received one headjoint by Salvatore Faulisi and one by Luiz Tudrey.

There were also cash prizes and remunerated recitals for all winners at: Escola de Música da UFRJ, Conservatório Brasileiro de Música, FUNARTE (Rede Nacional de Música), BNDES, Orquestra Sinfônica Municipal de Campinas, Orquestra Sinfônica da USP, Orquestra Petrobras Pró-Música e Prêmio Estímulo Dell'Arte.
